Jesus exchange with Peter is interesting where he prays that Peter will stand firm. Then immediately prophesied that Peter would deny him. What was it that Peter said that caused Jesus to abandon his prayer for Peter as hopeless? There is a truth there that we can all benefit from.

Jesus didn’t do anything,as he never existed.Christianity is a cult,a man made religion cooked up by primitive Bronze Age humans who believed in blood magic and human sacrifice. The god of the so called Israelites was a pagan war god Yahweh who was worshipped by the cannonites.Outside of you’re retarded magic book the bible there’s zero proof of the existence of a divine being who can do anything but does nothing to prevent evil and suffering and death.Brainwashed Christians think that the world is 6 thousand years old and that snakes talk etc etc.If it wasn’t for childhood indoctrination Christianity would be dead in one generation.

God answered the prayer of Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane. Lu 22:43
An angel came unto him and strengthened him so that he could do the father's will. That's an answer to the prayer..... take the cup or your will be done.... God's will was done

If Jesus's prayer had been answered in the garden, you wouldn't have the chance to sit and type this text under this post. You wouldn't have any chance of being saved. Don't be afraid of prayers not being answered. Reconsider your theology.

Well… I understand what you are saying grammatically, however, in the larger context of humanity and the “will of the father” the ultimate prayer of Christ is unanswered until “the day of the Lord” is realized. In that sense, Yancey lovingly and encouragingly offers words of solace here. Very helpful to many.

Jesus' prayer WAS answered. You chopped off the last part of Hebrews 5:7, " and He was heard because of His piety" and you deglect to mention Mat. 26:39, I am exceedingly sorrowful even unto death". He was praying so He would not die right there in the garden, but He prayed the Father's will be done, in other words, if I die here, Father, you'll have to raise me up to die on the cross tomorrow. Always look at the immediate and remote context and and don't chop parts of it off!

There is no formula for prayer. We pray, and trust, and leave the results in God's hands. Often, though, when prayer stops, so do the coincidences. You could call them "God-incidences." --Philip

I heard somewhere that there are three possible answers to a request made in prayer:

1. Yes.
2.Not yet.
3. I've got something even better for you.

A friend of mine forwarded me this blog post. I am moved by the message, but also the comments following; people are kind and thoughtful in their replies. One of my favorite things about Christianity is how we offer one another grace, even if we might disagree. This society that we belong to, though it be rife with misfits and selfishness, calls us to strive for the holiness that was modelled by Jesus, himself.

Thank you, Father, for this extended family.
