"The frolic architecture of the snow." --Emerson, 'The Snow-Storm', 1841

I lived at Colorado Springs while attending Nazarene Bible College before moving back to finish at Columbia International University in 1999. Since I was old enough to have a memory of Winter I've been captivated by the beauty, elegance and power of ice and snow. It was a gift outright to experience a Rocky Mountain winter, to hike Pike's Peak in the holy hush of February and breathe the free, thin air. I'm from North Carolina and have passed good some times in the Appalachians.

I was introduced to Philip Yancey at NBC and became a disciple of sorts upon learning what IS so amazing about the Grace of Jesus Christ. Philip, your work is an inspiration to me. Best Regards, With Gratitude --Curt.

How very different from our Christmas celebration in Australia! My husband and I attended a service at 9a.m. at our church then travelled through the Adelaide Hills to our daughter's home. The forecast was for a 40 degree celscius temperature and strong winds with an extreme fire danger warning. As we listened to the radio we heard of one grass fire which had started in the hills and Country Fire Service crews abandoned family celebrations to put the fire out as quickly as possible. This time no lives or homes were lost here in South Australia on Christmas day. This year we received five new books as gifts, including "Vanishing Grace" by Philip Yancey, a favorite author of mine. So many interesting aspects of the Christian faith to consider, but always the greatest of these is Love. Always.
