On this Sept. 4, my local church pastors spoke together about “pain, evil, and suffering,” taking texted questions from the congregation as they spoke. You were mentioned several times. Thank you for your work continually addressing “the question that never goes away….” Have a good tour. I hope it is a source of significant good for you and your listeners…..

I just finished your book, The Jesus I Never Knew, which I enjoyed reading very much. I couldn’t help but notice that Hebrews 5:7-8 presented some challenges for you, as you mentioned a couple of times in the book. Perhaps you are more perceptive than you realize. (These verses talk about learning obedience by suffering, which you interpreted as applying to Jesus.) You might find it interesting to learn that in the Inspired Version as translated by Joseph Smith, Jr., there are parentheses around those 2 verses, and a footnote which indicates that they apply to Melchizedek, not Christ.

    Dear Philip

Thank you very much for your reply. It has brought me a lot of peace. I am reminded of Nehemiah who wept for days in the presence of God before he went to take on the task in Jerusalem.I am reminded that ministry has to commence in the presence of the One Who calls, continue in and with Him and conclude at His feet, for His glory.

    Blessings

I’m very sorry to trouble you with this here, but I am not sure where else to take my dilemma. I have bought 9 copies of the 1998 edition Jesus I never knew participants guides, along with a 2008 J I N K dvd. I have only just discovered that the 2 are not compatible. I cannot find the 1998 video anywhere on the internet. Would you happen to know if your company has any in stock anywhere? We are starting our study next week, so really a bit of a rush to get it. Apologies again for hassle of this trivia. Many thanks. Sarah.

Sorry, also I am in the uk, so it would need to be a video that can be used over here.

Ooh, that’s a tough one. There are no “older” VHS tapes made for UK format, though a few VCR players can do both formats. Is it possible for you to return the 9 1998 Participants Guides, or exchange them for the 2008 guides? Where did you buy them? It’s conceivable the publisher would still have an old 1998 tape around, but formatting is a problem. I could send you 9 2008 guides–would that help? Sorry about the confusion.
